A Brief Look Into Giant Steps

Giant Steps School

Giant Steps School is the only private educational institution in Quebec focused exclusively on students aged 4 to 21 years of age who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders. The school’s mission is to offer high-quality innovative educational and therapeutic services to our students and to support the Quebec autism community. Structured to serve both francophones and anglophones, the school is respected throughout the province’s educational and medical sectors, with pedagogical and therapeutic programs designed to promote the achievement and growth of students with autism. This approach is based not only upon the work done with each individual student in the classroom environment but through an innovative inclusion program that allows him/her to participate in the community.

Giant Steps Resource and Training Center

The Giant Steps Resource and Training Centre opened in 2005 with the mission to support our staff, families, and the greater ASD community.  The Resource Centre is open to the general public by appointment and offers a wide range of resources and services for autism-related issues. It contains books, toys, and teaching activities.

Community outreach and support are a priority, with involvement in such things as organizing workshops, co-hosting the annual Autism in Motion Conference & Exhibit, and collaborating with the Montreal Trudeau airport to organize the Enfants en Premier program sensitizing families and children with autism to the airport and flying.

Giant Steps Foundation

The Giant Steps Foundation was founded in order to offer financial support to the Giant Steps School. Due to the individualized academic and inclusion programs offered, the school requires significant financial resources. In order to achieve this, the Foundation organizes and coordinates multiple fundraising initiatives: an annual campaign, an annual fundraising auction, and a major gifts program.  The Giant Steps Foundation also participates in several fundraising opportunities such as the Scotia Bank 21K & 5K Charity Challenge. The Foundation is fortunate to count on a variety of annual gifts raised through “Third Party’ events, In Memoriam and In Honour gifts and gifts in kind and in shares.
